The Expenses View is one of three Finance Module Views. You can access the Expenses View from the Nav Bar under the Finances dropdown or, within the Finance Module, by using quick link in the Finance Title Bar.
The Expenses View allows you to enter and view past actual expenses as well as future forecasted expenses for your coaching business. Expenses are divided into three categories: Direct Expenses, General Expenses, and Other Expenses.
Direct Expenses are expenses tied directly to a revenue category (clinics, camps, or coaching groups). General Expenses correspond to specific line items on Schedule C of the U.S. Tax Return. Other Expenses fall under “Other Expenses” for Schedule C.
Upon creating a budget, expense rows are created for each Expense category. If you want to edit or update an Expense row, you can do so in one of two ways:
- Manually input the expense within the month for the appropriate Expense category.
- For an Expense Category, enter:
- The expense rate
- The schedule on which the rate is payable (Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, or Annually)
- And the months in which the rate is paid (for Quarterly, Semi-Annual, or Annual schedules)
Note that entering an expense rate and schedule will overwrite any existing values in that Expense category row.
Be sure to save the budget after making your edits and/or updates.
