Hello, and welcome to Insight Coach Pro. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Fueling Tool.
You can navigate to the Fueling Tool from the central dashboard by going to the Athlete Views dropdown, selecting your athlete in the Fueling Tool, and then you’ll be taken to that view. You can also access the Fueling Tool through the Athlete Views by using the Quick Links.
The Fueling Tool uses fueling sources in combination with fueling targets to create fueling plans. Let’s start by looking at fueling sources.
Each athlete has an individualized list of available fueling sources. You’ll select those available fueling sources from the Fueling Library. The Fueling Library contains a wide range of universal fueling sources. You can filter and sort the library to easily find what you’re looking for. You’ll also likely have athletes that use fueling sources not included in the universal library. You can add custom sources specific to one athlete. You can also add sources that are available to your entire roster.
To apply a fueling source to an athlete so that it’s available in a fueling plan, toggle its status button to the applied status. I’ve selected a gel and applied it to this athlete for the bike and the run. Our athlete now has a range of fueling sources applied for bikes and runs. We can toggle these sources to active to make them available for use in upcoming fueling plans. Note that for drink mixes and electrolytes, you’ll want to select both the mix and a liquid to mix it into. We can also set a priority order for these fueling products, which will come into play when we create the fueling plan.
All fueling plans relate hourly servings of each product to a fueling target. You can create and save multiple targets for bikes and runs to cover a range of workout scenarios. When we create a fueling plan, we’ll select the sports and the associated targets, and the tool will pull in current active sources for that plan. From there, you can start by manually editing the hourly servings for each fueling source. The total row will automatically update to show how these fueling sources are working to satisfy your fueling targets.
If you see that the current set of sources isn’t going to meet the targets you’ve defined, you can update your active sources and regenerate the plan. If you want to save yourself from trial and error, you can also autofill the plan based on your set of priorities. Once you’re happy with the plan, you can save it for future reference and also print a copy to share with your athlete.
